A journey through time takes us to the early days of Tenuta Freddano, founded in the distant year of 1927 by Sante Freddano, a daring Italian immigrant who sought fortune in the United States. Right from its inception, the estate distinguished itself in the production of high-quality wine and extra virgin olive oil, carrying with it a history of excellence. In 1987, the estate passed into the hands of Sante’s son, the charismatic Giulio, a man with deep agronomic knowledge who, to this day, as an agronomist, passionately oversees and cares for every single production process.
But the story of Tenuta Freddano doesn’t stop there. In December 2019, a new chapter began to be written when the company was taken over by Chiara Fiorentini, a young and enterprising entrepreneur from Rome. Driven by her innate passion for wine, Chiara chose to turn her love into concrete work, constantly supported and embraced by her entire family. Together, with their dedication and determination, they set out to carry forward the legacy of quality and tradition of Tenuta Freddano, breathing new life into a dream that continues to grow and shine.

Our company is passionately and determinedly led by Chiara Fiorentini, a young entrepreneur at only 28 years old, supported by her tireless mother, Cristina, both experts in the field of Organized Retail. Their tenacity and passion in pursuing their dreams and goals are the driving force behind the company, which, despite the adversities of recent years, has already achieved significant results and recognition.
The love for wine runs in their veins, and it is the common thread that ties every aspect of the company together. In our splendid vineyards, we cultivate with passion and dedication, strictly adhering to the principles of organic and vegan agriculture, allowing us to offer high-quality products while respecting the land and centuries-old traditions. For this reason, we do not use herbicides, chemical fertilizers, or pesticides, as we firmly believe that nature itself can provide us with everything we need to achieve extraordinary results.

Therefore, every grape cluster is handpicked, with meticulous grape selection directly in the vineyard. This process allows us to ensure that only the highest quality grapes are used in the production of our wines, guaranteeing an exceptional final result.
The alcoholic fermentation of our wines takes place with care and precision, maintaining controlled temperatures to preserve the integrity of the aromas and fragrances. Subsequently, our wine treasures are expertly aged in stainless steel containers that enhance and preserve the unique characteristics of each variety. Some of our selected wines, such as the Merlot Riserva and Chardonnay Riserva, benefit from additional aging in prestigious French oak barrels, which provide complexity and structure to the wine.

Early 1900s
The Migration
In the early years of the 20th century, when the souls of dreamers ignited the hearts of men, an era of migrations spread like an enchanted song across Europe. Brave individuals, with a suitcase and a dream in hand, embarked on a journey to America in search of fortune, eager for a day when they could return to their roots. And so it was that one distant day, in the year 1913, a man named Sante Freddano left his beloved land and set forth to Plainfield, in the magical state of New Jersey.
1927
The Purchase
After several years of hard work, in 1927, he managed to send the necessary sum to his loved ones for the purchase of a promising agricultural estate. This land was already abundant with olive trees and grapevines, ready to yield its fruits to the Freddano family.
1929
The Crisis and the Return
But in 1929, a dark shadow fell upon the world, an economic and financial crisis that engulfed the United States and shook Europe. In that challenging period, Sante Freddano made a courageous decision: he returned to his homeland in September 1931 to fulfill a dream, dedicating himself to the ancient art of cultivating the land and reaping its fruits.
Second Half of the 20th Century
Work and Respect
The second half of the 20th century was a period of hard work and respect for the land. The activities that drove the company were viticulture, olive cultivation, field farming, and livestock breeding. Our predecessors, unaware of DOC, IGT labels, and modern winemaking techniques, worked with love and respect for nature and its gifts. This is how they laid the foundation for a splendid reality, the starting point from which we now contemplate the result that materializes before our eyes.
Agricola Freddano, from its inception, has had only one goal: the quality of its products. Over the years, progress and technology have brought advancements in cultivation systems, winemaking techniques, and the very concept of oenology. We have embraced modern times, but without forgetting our roots firmly anchored in tradition.
However, some elements have remained unchanged over time, like an uncontaminated river, unaffected by trends and consumerism, and they have been the guiding principles of our business: passion for work, love, and respect for the land and its fruits.
The 1980s
Giulio Freddano and Organic Farming
In the 1980s, Giulio Freddano, son of Sante, continued the family legacy and ushered in a new chapter in our history. In 1987, we began bottling both oil and wine, selling directly in our four stores in the historic heart of Orvieto. In 1995, Giulio embraced organic farming, anticipating the evolution that would lead to producing organic wine from organic grapes. Our secret lies in our ability to seamlessly, naturally, and intelligently blend ancient tradition with the principles of modern technology, resulting in Quality.
In 2011, Giulio Freddano decided to sell the company, but his love for the land kept him close to us, continuing to work in his beloved fields and vineyards.
2019
Our Management
Eight years later, in 2019, our family, like butterflies drawn to vibrant colors, was captivated by the magic of Tenuta Freddano. In love with nature, with the wine that flowed like a river of ambrosia, and with the Quality that permeated every moment, we decided to embark on this unprecedented adventure.
And so, in December 2019, the doors of ‘Tenuta Freddano’ swung open to welcome us joyfully into its embrace. Giulio, the guardian of centuries-old knowledge and pure love for the land, stood by our side like an enlightened guide, leading us through the winding vineyards and the deep labyrinths of the cellars. Because those who find ecstasy in their vocation can only pave the way to the most authentic happiness.
Our hearts were stolen by the enchanted estate, by its generous lands that sparkled under the sun’s rays, and by the wine that danced on the taste buds like a symphony of flavors. But above all, we were enchanted by the wisdom and deep attachment to the land that Giulio, a true poet of the soil, gifted us with every day through words of wisdom.
Today, we are the humble custodians of this wonderful love story, ready to write new chapters on scrolls of passion. Our dreams, like bright stars in the night sky, join those of the Freddanos who came before us, bringing their name to shine even brighter.
